Transfers
Montessori transfers
In the case of applications for all transfers from other Montessori schools, a place will only be offered if there is a vacancy; if there is a definite commitment to the full school program, and if the standard enrolment criteria are satisfied.
In the case of children graduating from Stage 1 at another Montessori school, placement in Stage 2 at ISMS is considered like in-school movement between Stages. As above, parents accepting offers of places into Stage 2 and 3 are required to undertake that they intend that their child will remain at the School until the end of Stage 3. Once a place is confirmed, where appropriate, the Stage 2 director will make contact with the previous school to facilitate orientation visits during the term prior to the child’s anticipated commencement.
Confirmation of enrolment in a Montessori school, a letter from the current director and copies of all recent reports are required prior to an enrolments interview. All transfer applications are considered on an individual basis.
Non-Montessori transfers
Subject to places being available, ISMS would like to provide the opportunity for any child to gain from the Montessori method of education. Any prospective application from a child who has not previously attended a Montessori school will be considered on an individual basis following an observation of the ISMS classrooms by the parents, discussion with the parents and a week of orientation. Following this week, discussion between the parents, Principal, child and class director determine whether the match between the family and Montessori education at ISMS will be successful.
In all cases a more formal discussion takes place 6 weeks after the child has commenced at ISMS with the class director and parents to ensure that both the family and School are working together to ensure the successful transition to Montessori education.
