Our Parents
At the ISMS consideration of the offer of place for your child does not stop with the child. Of particular importance is your own attitude to the Montessori ideal and to the running of the School. The child most likely to benefit from Montessori education is the child whose parents take an active and consistent interest in the School.
An active parent body
Our School is run largely on the voluntary labour and efforts of the parents. Once you have accepted a place, you are expected, and not merely encouraged to do your share. In this way parents are brought closer to their child’s environment, made aware of the needs and problems of the School; and by participating in fundraising, administration and maintenance, parents enable costs to be kept down. The School has reached its present standard because of the unselfish efforts of past parents at the School over long periods of time, and for this level to be maintained and for further improvements to be made, this commitment must continue.
Social activities
Fundraising events serve the important social purpose of getting parents together. It is compulsory for all parents to participate by organisation of events and attendance at them. The fundraising calendar varies annually and the proceeds enable us to purchase additional Montessori materials and other benefits for our children.
