Teaching staff at all levels must demonstrate:

  • Understanding of and support for the Montessori curriculum and teaching method followed by the school
  • Respect for children and their abilities

  • Ability to work as a member of a team with other staff and sometimes parents of the school
  • Willingness to take part in school events and activities

Applying for a teaching position at ISMS

  • AMI or other Montessori qualification
  • A statement of your own educational philosophy
  • A statement of your view of educational leadership
  • Three written references
  • Names and contact details of three confidential referees

Working With Children background check: 100 Point identification requirements

All schools are required by law to screen preferred applicants before a formal offer of employment can be made. The screening procedure is referred to as the Working With Children background check and is conducted by the Commission for Children and Young People and/or NSW Police.

Preferred candidates must provide documents proving their identity. The documents presented must be originals and must add up to a minimum of 100 points as required by the 100 Point Check under the Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988. The attached form lists a range of documents that can be used by the school, please read this checklist carefully.
